OUT AND ABOUT – THE LOST SUPPER, an immersive dining experience at the McKittrick Hotel, is extended through September 8th

The McKittrick Hotel is building a dynasty of immersive experiences that rely on sustained illusions. When Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More opened its doors, I never would have guessed that it would be still be going strongly more than seven years onwards. Since then, The McKittrick has played host to some unique entertainments – Ghost Quartet, Flight, and The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart were all one-of-a-kind experiences that were exquisitely-realized. The “hotel” also hosts rowdy weekend events (I recently attended The Bartschland Follies, a weekly burlesque/variety show there) that continue well into the wee hours of the night.

Now we have The Lost Supper, an immersive dining experience straight out of the imagination of David Lynch. The event, which has been packing them in this summer, takes place in The Attic, a room that has been unlocked especially for this surreal culinary experience. What can you expect? Well, I don’t want to give too much away, but be prepared for chic, intimate entertainment that asks you to question the nature of reality and engage in your subconscious. Conventional narratives don’t live here, untethered dreamscapes do. The experience also includes a three-course meal (there’s a vegetarian option, too) and plenty of wine and cocktails. You’ll have more opportunities to catch this unique hybrid; it’s recently been announced that The Lost Supper has been extended through September 8th.

Later this year, the hit At the Illusionist’s Table returns to the McKittrick. I look forward to seeing what wonders that event will unearth.
